Raheem Sterling’s struggles
Englishman Sterling has of course been a mainstay in City’s attack for many years now.
In 285 outings for the Sky Blues, the attacker has managed to rack up 113 goals and 86 assists – playing a key role in the club’s recent dominance of the English top-flight.
However, recent weeks have seen Pep Guardiola limit Sterling’s game-time, both in the league and in Europe.
The former Liverpool man featured for just two minutes over two legs as City saw off Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, before then being left on the bench in the first of two semi-final ties with PSG earlier this week.
Sterling has also been limited in his PL minutes of late, starting just two of their last six, with the forward not even featuring in three of those ties.
Sterling to leave Man City?
Now, though, amid a difficult stretch in his career, Sterling has been linked with a move away from the Etihad
The wide-man fuelled speculation over a potential Bernabeu switch earlier this year, when he refused to rule out joining Los Blancos.
Then, earlier this month, it was reported that Sterling is now very much back on Madrid’s transfer radar, after losing his starting berth to Phil Foden.
And, according to a report from Football Insider, it does look as though Man City would at least be willing to entertain a bid from Real should one materialise.
FI explain that Pep Guardiola is planning an overhaul of the Man City attack this summer that could see Sterling leave with Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish joining.
It is added that Sterling is not considered to be as integral as he once was by Guardiola, with the Spaniard willing to sell for the right offer. Sterling is said to be valued at around £80m.
