West Ham are reportedly ready to press ahead with a move for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek before the transfer window closes.
Frank Lampard admitted recently that the England playmaker could move on loan for game time. That alerted the likes of the Hammers, Southampton, Fulham and Aston Villa.
Villa have since brought in Blues star Ross Barkley on a season-long loan, seemingly leaving the race for Loftus-Cheek down to three.
A report in the Daily Mail claims that David Moyes’ men will push for a deal over the next few days, although one stumbling block has presented itself.
That issue regards the 24-year-old’s £60,000-a-week salary, with West Ham not overly happy with that figure.
But if they come to an agreement then Loftus-Cheek could move to the London Stadium before Monday evening’s deadline.
The one cavaet for the Hammers, however, is that Chelsea may try and move for Declan Rice again as part of any deal.
Lampard is a massive fan of the England midfielder, and wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge to use as a centre-back.
West Ham have so far withstood any approaches from their London rivals. but may to be tempted if they can bring in Loftus-Cheek as some form of replacement.
Hammers snap up new defender
West Ham have signed Czech Republic defender Vladimir Coufal for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old right-back joins the Hammers from Slavia Prague on a contract until the summer of 2023, with the option of a further two years.
“I’m very happy I am part of the West Ham family,” Coufal told the official club website. “I will do everything so that West Ham will be successful.
“I know about the interest West Ham had in me for a long time but now finally I am here and I am so happy.” Read more…
