New Tottenham Hotspur addition Emerson Royal has taken to social media on Saturday, to send a message to his new employers.
Betis to Barca to Spurs
A somewhat bizarre summer for Brazilian stopper Emerson of course came to a head earlier this week.
The 22-year-old, at one point or another, was actually on the books of three different club between June and September.
First came Real Betis, with whom Emerson spent the last two seasons. After thoroughly impressing in Andalusia, though, La Liga rivals Barcelona, early in the window, swooped to activate an option in their joint-ownership agreement, to bring the right-back to the Camp Nou.
Emerson, in turn, was expected to spend the campaign ahead plying his trade as part of Ronald Koeman’s squad.
The situation quickly changed, however, upon the aforementioned Tottenham entering the frame.
With new boss Nuno Espirito Santo evidently unhappy with the right-back options at his disposal heading into the season, the Lilywhites sanctioned a big-money swoop for his services late last month.
Barca, whose financial troubles have been common knowledge across the continent for some time, subsequently deemed Spurs’ proposal too good to turn down, with a deadline day move to North London, in turn, having been announced earlier this week:

‘Can’t wait to meet you’
The latest addition to Nuno’s setup in the English capital, though, quickly turned heads on the back of his arrival being made official.
This came with Emerson, during an interview with Spanish outlet Marca, having revealed his intention to one day take his talents back to the Camp Nou:
“I leave with the feeling that one day I will return to give that joy to the fans.”
Such comments, despite having no doubt been made with little malice towards Spurs in mind, were inevitably put under the microscope, amid questions surrounding the Brazilian’s commitment to his new employers.
On Saturday, though, Emerson has moved to assure that he is in fact raring to go in North London.
Taking to social media, the 22-year-old posted a simple message, confirming that he ‘can’t wait’ to get his latest adventure in the Premier League underway:
I can’t wait to meet you, @SpursOfficial
