Manchester United starlet Alvaro Fernandez has taken to social media, to celebrate taking his place in the club’s senior setup for the first time.

CR7 is back

The headline news on the red half of Manchester on Tuesday of course came in the form of the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese, on the back of a 12-year spell away from the club, linked back up with United late last month, departing Italian giants Juventus for Old Trafford.

In turn, after a 5-day spell in isolation, Ronaldo joined his new teammates in training a little over 24 hours ago.

Taking to Carrington for the first time in over a decade, CR7 was all smiles in taking his place alongside the likes of fellow summer arrival Jadon Sancho, and compatriot Diogo Dalot:

‘Learning’

As outlined above, though, it was the presence of another of those in the training photographs posted across the Red Devils’ social media platforms which in fact caught the eye of many others.

The player in question? Alvaro Fernandez.

Fernandez, 18, made the move to Manchester last summer, after allowing his contract with Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid to expire.

And the Spaniard, over the 12 months since, has evidently thoroughly impressed those in a position of power at the club.

After being quickly promoted from United’s U18 setup to their U23 outfit last season, the stopper went on to rack up a none-too-shabby 25 appearances for Neil Wood’s side.

It is the early weeks of the new campaign, though, which appear to have caught the eye of none other than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After notching two goals and an assist from left-back across his first three Premier League 2 outings of 2021/22, Fernandez was, on Tuesday, introduced to the Red Devils’ first-team setup for the first time.

And the youngster was understandably keen to celebrate the achievement on social media, taking to Instagram to post a photo of he and Cristiano Ronaldo, accompanied by the caption:

‘Special moments. Learning’
