Man Utd starlet set for debut, as Solskjaer springs FA Cup surprise

Amad Diallo is set for a place on the bench on Tuesday night after being included in Manchester United’s squad for their FA Cup fifth-round clash with West Ham.

There was no mention from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he did his pre-match briefing for the game after the draw with Everton. However, the 18-year-old has been impressing in training.

He has also starred for the Under-23 side and has scored three goals and assisted three others in Premier League 2.

Diallo was pictured arriving with United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at The Lowry Hotel on Tuesday afternoon.

The Norwegian, who has spoken highly of the £37m recruit, gave Diallo a pat on the back as he was spotted by the cameras.

Diallo looks likely to feature on the bench against the Hammers and will be hoping for some minutes on the left wing.

Solskjaer said last month: “Amad has looked really comfortable and he’s settled in really well in training.

“It shows how technically adept he is and, of course, we’ll give him time to settle and adjust. But hopefully we can see him on the pitch in not too long. He’s definitely done well in training.”

Paul Pogba will miss out with a thigh problem.

Bailly still missing

And the United boss does not expect defender Eric Bailly to be fit on Tuesday, while Phil Jones has yet to feature this season due to a knee injury.

“Yeah, he’s getting better,” Solskjaer has about Bailly.

“He’s still not available for the cup game, we think. He’s been out on the grass and training, but we’re just going to make a decision. I don’t think he’ll be involved.”

Solskjaer said on Pogba: “Well, it was an injury. It’ll take a few weeks for it to heal, so he’s just started his recovery, working with the medical staff and we’ll get him back as soon as we can, as safely as we can, because of course Paul’s been very important for us.

“We’re not going to take any risks, but a few weeks definitely.”

Dean Henderson is set to maintain his 100% appearance record in domestic cup games this season.
