Denmark’s impressive campaign

With Euro 2020 drawing to a close, the transfer rumour mill is inevitably cranking into action.

Denmark caught the eye at the tournament before being knocked out by England in extra-time of the semi-final at Wembley. This was both as a result of their heartwarming story surrounding Christian Eriksen and the fantastic football that they played.

Although ultimately falling short, several of the Danish team caught the eye, not least Sampdoria’s young winger Mikkel Damsgaard.

The 20-year-old was shot into the spotlight as a direct replacement for the unfortunate Eriksen, and has seized his opportunity on the biggest stage with both hands.

Previously little-known, Damsgaard contributed two goals and one assist in five appearances for the Danes, making him the joint second-top goalscorer in their squad.

The fallout of such performances is that Damsgaard has attracted attention from a host of clubs on the continent, who see the Dane as a huge talent for the future.

One of these clubs is rumoured to be Tottenham Hotspur, with local Sampdorian outlet ClubDoria reporting that the North London outfit have shot into the lead for his signature.

How much would he cost?

According to the report, Damsgaard is available for between 30 and 40 million euros, and is of significant interest to Fabio Paratici, the new Director of Football in North London.

However, Spurs will not be without competition, with Real Madrid also thought to be interested. Whether Los Blancos can find the required amount of money this summer is another matter however.
