Eric Bailly’s future at Manchester United will be resolved soon with AC Milan keen on a loan deal, according to a trusted source.
The centre-back has been out of favour at Old Trafford this season. He has made just three starts in the Premier League and a move this month looks more than likely. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move out of Old Trafford for the last 18 months. But he penned a new deal in April.
Bailly signed a new contract with the club until summer 2024, with the option of a further year after assurances from then boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“Now the moment with my injury has passed and I’m fit and feel good, and that’s it. A new contract is like a new challenge and I’m ready for this,” Bailly said at the time.
“That’s why I say the new contract shows the group has confidence in me – the coach, the staff and the players and, for me, that is very important. And that’s why I made this decision to stay at the club.”
Solskjaer only used the defender twice though in the league this term. While Ralf Rangnick has already afforded Bailly as many opportunities in his short time in charge.
But Bailly, whose original deal was due to expire at the end of this season, is mulling over his future.
And Fabrizio Romano reports that AC Milan want to sign him on loan.
The Rossoneri are in desperate need of a new addition to their backline this month after Simon Kjaer suffered a season-ending injury. Talks have been initiated by Milan, but no decision has been made.

The transfer pundit has suggested that United are waiting for “further” contact from Stefano Pioli’s men.
Bailly ‘challenged’ Solskjaer
It’s a familiar scenario for the former Villarreal man, who is believed to be one of the players who has harboured doubts about Rangnick’s tactics and playing style.
The report from the Daily Mirror also named four of 11 players who are reportedly pining for a way out of Old Trafford. And one of those named was centre-half Bailly.
Bailly was also named in November by the Telegraph as one star who had ‘openly challenged’ former boss Solskjaer in the dressing room. Key to his complaints were the Norwegian’s insistence on selecting Harry Maguire ahead of him despite the Englishman’s poor form.
The centre-back was then named as a target for Serie A side AC Milan in January. And the Serie A side had renewed their interest in the United fringe man.
