Dani Alves rejoins Barcelona
Following Xavi’s arrival as manager of Barcelona, another club legend has stepped out of the shadows in their time of need, this time in a playing capacity.
Veteran defender Dani Alves has agreed to return to Catalonia, after five years away from the club.

In a statement, Barcelona said:
“FC Barcelona and Dani Alves have reached an agreement in principle for the player to join the football first team for the remainder of the current season. The Brazilian will be joining training from next week but will not be able to play until January.
The club will announce the full details at his official presentation as a new FC Barcelona player”
Alves will provide valuable experience in new manager Xavi’s dressing room, as well as adding further competition for the right back spot, which has currently seen Sergi Roberto, Oscar Mingueza and Sergino Dest all fight it out for the role.
Alves set to earn just 1 euro a week
Now, in what is surely a record contract agreement, reports from Spain via UK press suggest that Alves is set to be earning just one euro per week, an offer made in order to ensure that Barcelona’s financial problems are not made even worse by his return.

It seems, for the most part, as though the deal will suit all parties, with Alves not short for cash after an illustrious playing career. Meanwhile, he will return to play football at the club he loves, and Xavi will gain an early ally in the dressing room.
The major question is, will it help Barca out of their slump?
