Tielemans’ strong season
Leicester City fans will have been watching Youri Tieleman’s star rise this season with a mixture of emotions.
So often a selling club, the Foxes always tend to receive premium fees for their players, but the players part nonetheless. The likes of Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell and Riyad Mahrez lay this fact bare, despite the hefty fees raked in.
Liverpool sniffing around?
Therefore, with rumoured interest in Tielemans from Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, foxes fans must have been fearing the worst.
However, as per a report by the reliable John Percy in the Telegraph, those fears can be allayed somewhat.
#lcfc will continue contract talks with Youri Tielemans on his return from holiday, after Belgium’s Euro 2020 campaign. Tielemans is not a target for #lfc this summer: will be a huge fee and Liverpool likely to recruit players outside the Premier League https://t.co/2NskmRHHTa

Percy outlines that Leicester are set to continue contract talks with the Belgian international midfielder following his holiday. Moreover, he reports that:
“Liverpool have been linked with a move for the midfielder this summer but it is understood that, while Jurgen Klopp is an admirer, Tielemans is not a summer target for the club.”
The reason for this is, apparently, the fee that would be required to prize Tieleman’s out of the midlands, suggesting:
“Tielemans has two years left on his current deal and Liverpool believe it would require a huge transfer fee to even persuade Leicester to consider doing business, so a move is not on the agenda.”
However, Percy reveals that Tielemans is “viewed as crucial in Leicester’s hopes of sustaining progress”, with the Belgian still just 24-years-old. Jurgen Klopp was rumoured to be interested in replacing the now-PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum with Tielemans, but it appears as though those reports were in fact wide of the mark.
For now, Leicester fans can rest easy once again.
