Leeds United never do things the easy way do they?
The Yorkshire club have had their fair share of ups and downs throughout their history, but they can’t even complete a simple transfer without speedbumps getting in their way.
Earlier this week it seemed as if Leeds were set to sign Ian Poveda from Manchester City, but now there could be a late twist in the tale.
What’s been said then?
Phil Hay was hosting a Q&A session on The Athletic about the club’s transfer plans with just a few weeks of the window to go.

Understandably, supporters asked about Poveda’s status after reports emerged that he was in Italy with his agent earlier this week.
Hay gave an update on the transfer, and he refused to rule out a late twist.
“He’s due at Leeds on Thursday. They thought it was all lined up to go this week and it should still be, provided things go well when they meet. But there is interest from Italy so you never say never. He’s an interesting one – a talented kid with a colourful background.”
Don’t want to lose out on him
Although Poveda has only played one senior game in his career, it would be seen as a bit of a missed opportunity if he ended up anywhere but Elland Road.
The winger is reportedly highly rated by both Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa, and the Argentine is rarely wrong when it comes to judging a players ability. Just ask Jack Harrison, for example, who has become a favourite under the Argentine, starting every match this season after fighting off fan criticism.
If he doesn’t come to Yorkshire it will always be a question of what could have been and that will be so frustrating for any supporter.
You don’t get signed by Barcelona and Man City if you don’t have something about you, and Bielsa could be the man to bring that out of him. Having contributed to just three goals in six matches this term, Leeds will have to hope that this doubt doesn’t materialise into a missed opportunity.
