Manchester United are ready to sell goalkeeper Dean Henderson this summer, but they want it to be Sheffield United, we can reveal.
Henderson could sign for the Blades, but any deal would include a buy-back clause which would free up loan slots for both clubs.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a huge talent and a number of clubs have looked closely at him, including top-four rivals Chelsea, who are looking to replace Kepa.
However, United believe that Henderson is the perfect long-term replacement for David De Gea so don’t want to lose him.
They believe that letting him move to Bramall Lane is the ideal next step, with a view to Henderson returning to Old Trafford at a later date – but at that point he would have already become an established Premier League number one.
We understand that Henderson is currently in-line to be included in Gareth Southgate’s next England squad and could be part of the squad for the Euro 2020 finals, behind Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope.
Paul Scholes has given his approval of Manchester United’s midfield following the January addition of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
Scholes was a key part of United’s midfield for the best part of two decades, but the position hasn’t always been a strong point for the Red Devils in recent years.
Last season saw Fred struggle to impose himself following a big money move from Shakhtar Donetsk, while Paul Pogba has been struggling with injuries this term.
However, things are beginning to shape up for United in the middle of the park after they signed Fernandes in January and with Fred and Nemanja Matic rediscovering their form recently, as well as Scott McTominay impressing early in the season, Scholes now thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a serious selection headache.
