Trent Alexander-Arnold has recently named the two players he would wish to sign for Liverpool in January.
Liverpool’s squad depth
Liverpool have, on paper, one of the best starting elevens in world football right now.
However, it is fair to say that Jurgen Klopp and co. do not have the depth of a Manchester City or Chelsea.
This, like it did in 2020/21, lead to some serious issues for Liverpool if several key players are out.
Now, despite Liverpool having a superb 2021/22 to date, their campaign looks as though it could fall apart in the coming weeks.
This is because of the African Cup of Nations, which take place between the 9th of January and February 6th.
For Liverpool, all of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Joel Matip are expected to depart for the competition.
This, in turn, will leave Liverpool seriously short-staffed and without two of their best players.
Alexander-Arnold eyeing Manchester City and Tottenham stars
So, it would likely make sense for the Reds to sign someone in January to help ease to burden of losing Mane and Salah in particular.
Now, in a recent interview, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been asked to name the two players he would sign for Liverpool in January if he was the manager.
Alexander-Arnold would opt to name Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham’s Heung-min Son as options he would sign:
“De Bruyne and Son.
“De Bruyne because I admire him a lot as a player. His vision, his technique, his accuracy. Outstanding player. The assists and the chances created he does is frightening.
“Son, again, an outstanding player. The speed, finishing and composure.”
