Arsenal star reportedly ‘unsatisfied’ with his situation in London

An Arsenal central defender is believed to be unsatisfied with his situation at the club currently.

Arsenal’s defence

2021/22 looked set to be a pretty rough year for Arsenal’s backline.

The Gunners began the campaign by conceding nine in their first three league games of the season.

However, following that dismal start Arsenal have, for the most part, become a much more solid defensive unit.

Granted, Mikel Arteta’s men did ship four to Liverpool last weekend, but previous games had seen them show serious signs of improvement at the back.

Aaron Ramsdale, for example, has kept five clean sheets in nine PL ties for the Gunners and, before Liverpool, had conceded just four in eight for Arsenal.

Elsewhere at the back Arsenal would sign Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White. Both have become integral members of Arsenal’s backline, with Ben White going on to form a great partnership with fellow centre-back, Gabriel.

Arsenal star unsatisfied

White and Gabriel have started Arsenal’s last nine Premier League ties as the club’s centre-back pairing.

And with both players still fairly young, Arsenal could have found themselves a solid defensive base for the next six/seven years.

This would of course be good news for the north Londoners, but perhaps less great for those fringe Arsenal centre-halves.

One of these players is Pablo Mari. The Spaniard would start in Arsenal’s opening two league games of the seaosn – they lost both 2-0.

Mari then made the bench in Arsenal’s following three PL ties, but has not even been in the matchday squad in the league since the 18th of September now.

So, it is not at all surprising to see, citing reports from Brazil, claim that Mari is ‘unsatisfied’ with his situation in London and is reportedly interested in returning to Flamengo.

However, the biggest issue with such a return is said to be Mari’s salary.
