Manchester United’s failure to sign Jadon Sancho has been explained though hope for the future remains, while Fulham are ready to rival Tottenham for their No 1 summer target, according to Wednesday’s transfer gossip.
SANCHO DEAL NEXT SUMMER AFTER LATEST FAILURE
Jadon Sancho has told Manchester United he is willing to wait until next summer to secure his move to Old Trafford.
The winger is reportedly keen to return to the Premier League with the Red Devils after months of speculation.
United saw their latest bid worth £91m for Sancho rejected on Tuesday evening.
That led them to pursue a deal for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele instead, who could sign on a loan-to-buy agreement.
However, that doesn’t mean United’s chances of signing Sancho are over altogether.
According to The Times, Sancho is disappointed by the failure of the two clubs to come to a transfer agreement.
However, the 20-year-old won’t let it get him down. As such, the paper claims he has informed United chiefs he will still look to make the move in summer 2021 and is willing to wait another year.
The Guardian, meanwhile, claim Dortmund have told United there is no point in bidding unless their €120m (£109.6m) asking price is met.
United submitted their ‘final’ £91m bid on Tuesday but it was instantly rejected by the Bundesliga side.
United won’t let the disappointment stand in their way, however. A deal for Dembele had been put in place in the event their offer for Sancho failed.
As such, those talks are expected to ramp up and a deal is not expected to be difficult to reach. Ronald Koeman is said to be determined to get the France winger off Barcelona’s books.
CAVANI NEXT FOR UNITED
United are also in talks over bringing in Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani on a free transfer.
Cavani is a free agent having left PSG back in June. While in the autumn of his career, the 33-year-old boasts an incredible goals record.
But widespread reports claim he will sign on the dotted line with United. A two-year deal, worth around £200,000 a week is being prepped.
