Tottenham boss Antonio Conte confirms incomings but says fringe player will stay

Tottenham held to draw

Despite a draw between Tottenham and Southampton, Spurs are a side very much on the up under new boss Antonio Conte.

The Italian has become the first Tottenham manager to go through his first seven Premier League matches unbeaten, although he was unable to get his side through the Europa Conference League group stages in a COVID-affected finale.

And while they remain sixth for now, should they win their postponed games against Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion, they will find themselves back into the top 4, and well in the hunt for a Champions League spot.

However, focus now turns to January, with a game on New Year’s Day against Watford at Vicarage Road, and a potentially busy transfer window to follow.

Conte confirms incomings

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Hornets, Conte confirmed that he will be looking to make signings in the January window, fanning the flames of transfer speculation that have been building for the last weeks.

The Italian revealed:

“For sure we need to improve the quality of the squad. I was sure after 7 days, 10 days, 2 weeks and then I make the evaluation who are the players I can count on.”

One man who will not be departing, however, is Harry Winks. Conte has developed a liking for the midfielder, who was previously a fringe option, and has started him in two of his last three Premier League clashes.

Who will Tottenham be looking to bring in?
